Passing the Time through Rhythm & Rhyme on the Windrush



WAPPY will re-run, ‘Passing the Time Through Rhythm & Rhyme on the Windrush’, at W3 Gallery tomorrow, 30th October from 3-4.30 pm, not 2-4 pm.


For the first 30 mins 3-3.30 pm, the session is geared for pre-school children Early Years Foundation Stage under 5. From 3.30 pm to 4.30 the session is for primary school age children & families. Pre-school age children should bring their favourite item the are happy to show at this session.


Already delivered to over 800 Ealing students (EYFS, Key S1, Key S2 & KS2 levels), including at Gifford Primary recently, this workshop uses an ice-breaker quiz, storytelling, poetry, a map-reading activity, arts & crafts & Q & A, and Windrush Generation interviews to explore real and imagined stories of what children and young people did to pass the time while journey on the Empire Windrush from different parts of the Caribbean to London.

We will go back in time to discuss the ring & clapping games children sued to play ‘Back Home’ and how they have been transported to the UK and become part of our playground lives today! Please contact me via wappy@live.com for any more info!
